There are plenty of big issues still to be settled in the Pro 12 as the teams head in to Round 22 and the end of the regular season. In order to make it easier for the fans following the remaining games on TV and at grounds across the UK and Ireland here are On Top Of The Moon’s cut out and keep guides to the permutations for each of the key positions.
All tables refer to the match points won by each side in their final game of the season. Click on the images for larger versions.
The top 3
Glasgow, Connacht and Leinster are all guaranteed to make the playoffs, although both Connacht and Leinster still need 1 more point each to ensure that Ulster cannot overtake them.
Permutations if Ulster do not get a BP win from their game against the Ospreys:
Permutations if Ulster get a BP win from their game against the Ospreys:
The final playoff spot
It’s advantage Ulster as things stand but Scarlets superior win record means they only need to take one more point than the men of the North in the final round to secure 4th place.
If Ulster get a BP win they will also overtake Connacht and/or Leinster
if either or both of those sides pick up no points in the final round.
6th place and Champions Cup entry
Munster look odds on to retain their record of playing in every edition of the European Cup – but a loss at home to the Scarlets could still leave them at risk.
Edinburgh would need a BP win and to turn around a 12 point
disadvantage in points difference to Ospreys to take 6th if the
Welsh side win without a BP and Munster take no points.
If the Os manage less than 4 points then it’s ‘just’ a BP win
that’s needed by Edinburgh in the event of Munster going pointless
The battle for the Italian Champions Cup spot
Treviso may be in front but with a trip to Dublin to play Leinster on the final day they will do well to pick up any points at all. If Zebre can end their losing streak at home to the Dragons then it’s likely that they will be the Pro 12’s final representative in the top European competition.
