Glasgow Greetings:

There’s a home debut in the offing from the bench for Bruce Flockhart whose other outings for the club have come away against Ospreys and Zebre.

Fraser Brown will play his first game at Scotstoun for more than 5 months with his last home action coming against Saracens back in October. There has been an even longer absence for Zander Fagerson whose previous match on the famous Warriors’ (synthetic) turf came against Munster in Round 2 of the PRO14 – over 6 months ago. More good news on the welcome back front with skipper Callum Gibbins playing his first game of 2019.

Warrior to Watch:

There have been a fair few milestones for Peter Horne this season. He racked up his 150th appearance for the club just before Christmas. During this campaign he’s notched his 20th try and 350th point as a Glasgow player. This will be the first game he’s played since passing the 10th anniversary of his Warriors’ debut (7th March 2009 away to Ulster).

Pete is a very important player for Glasgow and he’ll take on playmaking and goal-kicking duties on Saturday night. He’ll also have a leadership role to play, in particular guiding an inexperienced centre pairing through what will be another testing evening at Scotstoun.

Glasgow at home to Cheetahs in the PRO14 era:

  • 1 win
  • 0 losses
  • 1 Try BP
  • 0 Losing BPs
  • 5 points out of a possible 5 (100%)

Previous match-up:

Officials:

Referee: George Clancy (IRFU, 112th Championship game)
AR1: Andrew Brace (IRFU)
AR1: Dunx McClement (SRU)
TMO: Brian MacNeice (IRFU)

Mr. Clancy’s regular season record for 2017/18 in the PRO14:

Matches – 12 (all refs – 147)
Average penalty count – 17.1 per game (all refs – 19.0)
Home penalty percentage – 59% (all refs – 53%)
Average card count – 0.4 per game (all refs – 0.9)
Penalties per card – 41 (all refs – 22)

Mr. Clancy extends his all-time record to 41 Warriors’ matches refereed as the club encounter the Irish official for the third time in less than 3 months.

Everyone knows the drill by now – one of lowest average penalty counts in the league; highest home penalty percentage; least likely PRO14 official to use his cards. There should be no surprises when Mr. Clancy is in town!
